Lisaerys met Velarion even before he had been ushered in by the receptionist slave. As usual Lisaerys had been storming around the Governor's compound with a notary pacing beside him taking notes, while Lisaerys made some accounting in his head. His usual argument was that it helped the juices flow (even though he wouldn't use such a low born expression), however rumor had that he didn't want to waste his fine clothes by sitting around the whole day. That rumor didn't even make say, but poor folk will say whatever comes into their heads.
"Lord Maegyr, you are here." Though Lisaerys had seemed completly enthralled by his calculations, as soon as he spotted Lord Maegyr, his frown vanished and gave in to a brief ghost of a smile. Velarion noticed the clear expression of confusion and surprise made by the notary, a young Valyrian boy. "How have you been?"

"My lord." replied Valerion with a broad smile both at the Lord Treasurer and the confusion of the notary.
"I have been well. I hope to find you in equal good health. This Founder's Festival must be occupying much of your time."

"Please, come join me in my office." The Treasurer ushered Valerion into a minimalistic room, with nothing but a desk and a couple chairs.
"Take a seat." He said, closing the door behind them.
"Unfortunately, yes. I would rather have my attention focused on other, more essential, matters." Lisaerys said, not bothering to hide his distaste for the festival. "It is a shame that the Lord Governor has insisted in such a waste of colony capital while we surely need an expansion of the maritime transport infrastructure. I have made my displeasure clear, but he has insisted in "honoring the memory of Baelor". Bah!"

Valerion took a seat and nodded in agreement.
"I believe Aeradar Caltarys is in charge of entertainment for this festival. Apparently he is under the impression that I'm going to be capturing the Golden Khal for him to use in the festivities he is planning. At my expense of course."

"Lord Caltarys has received a large enough sum of Honors, I'm certain he will be more than willing to spare some coins to finance your hunting trip." Lisaerys said dismissively.
"So, you are willing to go... Out there?" He asked, seemingly there was a bit of anxiety in his tone. "I'm certain you are aware of the risks."

Valerion nodded.
"Very aware my lord." he said. "The dangers are many and varied. To survive, any expedition needs to be well resourced and well protected. The first is however beyond my capabilities, the second not so much."
He shrugged. "Lord Caltarys surely has been in this colony long enough to understand that. If he truly wants this Golden Kral, then he asks what I want and pays for it upfront. Otherwise he finds some other lackey to fulfil his desires. It's all the same to me."
He glanced at a wall map of the known parts of Sothyros that was the only adornment in the austere room.
"There must surely be other, more valuable, ventures that I and my men can contribute to, that would make a difference to the success and growth of the colony."

"Well... On one hand, Maltalos has been pestering me about how the colony is responsible to participating in the security of the salt operations and has requested funds for this whole tiger situation." Lisaerys stated, picking the hairs on his goatee. "To me it is indifferent if the creature is brought in dead or alive, as long as attacks on the site cease to happen..."
"Considering I have provided Caltarys' more than enough Honors to pay for the festivities and finance your expedition to deal with the feline threat. So this is what we are going to do..." The Treasurer produced a piece of parchment from under his desk and started scribbling. "You are going to bring this to Lord Caltarys. It will both be signed by my hand and have my deal on it. It commands him to pay for all expenses of your trip using the money the treasurary has provided. You will say that the Golden Kral is a matter of colonial importance and that his intentions of capturing the beast would very much align with my office's goals."

"I thank you my lord." replied Valerion, a smile breaking over his face. He spoke carefully trying to keep from sounding too sycophantic.
"One can never put too much trust in these elephants to fulfil their promises. Especially when they look to feather their own nests by taking every measure they can to maximise their profit. Your word and guarantee I can trust."

"Your father was a good friend, you are aware of that." Lisaerys smiled. "I said I'd take care of you, and I deeply hope we can be friends like I once was with your father."
"Now, get out of my sight." His expression soured briefly, then lightened up again. "I jest. But although your company is definitely superior to that of these bores here in the Hold, I fear I must return to my daily tasks."

"I am honored to be considered your friend. As was my father." replied Lord Valerion, rising and giving a short bow to his patron.
"I hope to be able to report to you success in this venture. I'll price my supplies and other needs and send the invoices to Caltarys. Once accounts are settled, I'll depart."
