As ones ventures deeper into the territory, this horrific sights might leave them a little... Deranged.
Sanity is a Stat that every character will have and might slowly lose points in it as the game progress. Rolling for Sanity will be a little different than usual: instead of getting a high number, you should be expecting to roll something below your stat number. So, if you have a 60 for Sanity, a d100 will be rolled (the EXP bonus subtracted) and anything equal or below 60 will be considered a success. Failing this roll will lead you to sanity loss. This is supposed to happen every time a character is subject to a fright, a terrible visage of death (or something unnatural) or casts some types of spells.
Note that your Sanity Score is just a pool. Reducing it will not affect your Stat for the Roll, WIL.
The decrease is rolled separately and its parameters are determined by the Admins. If the character loses 5 or more sanity points in one strike, he is subject to deep emotional trauma and must make a WIL check. Failing that, the character will go temporaly insane for d10 hours. During insanity, the character will gain one phobia and may be subject to having hallucinations, which you may try to figure out if are real by making another Sanity check. If you fail, however you shall descend deeper into madness.
As your score is reduced, your character will become more and more unstable. If you reach 0 sanity, the madness will be irreversible. Recovering Sanity points is a long arduous process and requires the character to stay in Linyanti (slower process) or return to civilization (might recover a little faster.
